Delete your account
You can delete your Tilawify account and everything synced with it at any time. There are two ways to do it, depending on whether you still have the app installed.
Delete in-app (recommended, immediate)
- Open Tilawify and sign in.
- Go to Settings → Account.
- Tap Delete my account.
- Type DELETE to confirm.
If it's been a while since you last signed in, Tilawify will first ask you to sign out and sign back in — this is a security requirement from our sign-in provider (Firebase), which only allows account deletion within a few minutes of a fresh sign-in. Simply sign back in and repeat the steps above; nothing else about your account changes.
Request deletion in writing
Send us the sign-in address of the account you want removed, using the contact form with “Privacy or account deletion” as the subject. We will act on the request within 30 days and confirm when it is done.
The fastest route is still reinstalling the app, signing in, and using the in-app steps above — that removes your account and data immediately rather than waiting on a request handled by hand.
What deletion removes
- Your account (email/sign-in identifier, password, account ID).
- Your progress: which surahs you've practised, streaks, and accuracy scores.
- Your saved settings (preferred reciter, key/transposition offset).
Deletion is immediate and permanent from the live service. Copies in our provider's encrypted backups are purged within 180 days — this is our infrastructure provider's own commitment, not something we control down to the day.
What stays
- Practice already saved on this phone, if you were also practising signed out — that data never left the device, so account deletion doesn't touch it. Uninstalling the app removes it.
- Our providers' own short-lived infrastructure logs (for example a sign-in or download timestamp with an IP address). These are not linked to your identity once your account is gone, and are not something we can reach in to delete.
