Tilawify wouldn't exist without the following sources. We're grateful to the reciters, institutions, and open-data projects who make this possible.
Recitation audio
No recitation will be published in Tilawify without permission — either through an open licence that explicitly allows this use, with attribution, or through direct written permission from the reciter or their representing institution. Which reciters' recordings ship in the released app is not yet settled, and none are named here yet. Each one will be listed below by name, with its exact licence or permission status, as soon as that is confirmed.
Example of the format each entry will follow once confirmed:

If a reciter's audio is ever removed from the app, it's because their rights status changed; we take this seriously and remove promptly.
Qur'anic text
Qur'anic text provided by Tanzil.net, used under the Tanzil Qur'an Text (Uthmani) licence — text reproduced unmodified, source credited, not sold on its own. See tanzil.net/docs/download for full terms.
Word-by-word timing data
Word-level timing and alignment data is derived using quran-align, licensed under CC‑BY. This lets Tilawify know exactly which word is being recited when, so your pitch is compared to the right part of the verse at the right time.
Facilitation and additional data
Additional verse metadata and reference resources via the QUL project (qul.tarteel.ai), used per the licensing terms of each individual resource.

This website
The icons on this site are from Phosphor Icons, used under the MIT licence. The melody drawn on the home page is real output from Tilawify's own analysis of a development recording, and is shown to illustrate the display, not as a published recitation.

If you are a reciter, or represent one, and have a question about your recitation's use in Tilawify, please write to us through the contact form and choose “Recitation rights or permission” as the subject. Those messages are answered first.
